BANISTERIOPSIS CAAPI VINE Dried Leaves

Banisteriopsis caapi contains beta-carbolines (harmine, harmaline and tetrahydrogarmin), which are reversible monoamine oxidase inhibitors. The stems of the plant contain 0,11-0,83 % beta-carbolines, 40-96 % of the total amount being harmine.
In the Indian tribes of the western Amazon, men drink this drink during religious festivals to induce colourful hallucinations and a sense of euphoria. Some tribes also use this drink to identify sources of witchcraft and curses that have caused illness. In addition, the drink is used as a remedy for diseases of the digestive tract and to expel parasites.
