What types of kratom are available

Kratom is a product made from the leaves of the Mitragyna speciosa plant, a tropical tree that is used in traditional medicine in its native country. There are different types, which are primarily identified by color:

This gives it a mildly sedative effect and makes it suitable for general relaxation, better sleep, or pain relief.

Green kratom

In this case, the green veins indicate that the kratom is still ripening. The leaves are dried in the sun for one day, then the drying process continues indoors. Green kratom is somewhere between white and red kratom, thanks to its balanced ratio of active ingredients. It has a mildly stimulating effect, but also has a relaxing effect. It can induce mild euphoria, especially in higher doses. It can also be recommended for beginners and is suitable for long-term use.

White kratom

The leaves have white veins at the time of harvest, so the ripening stage is still early. With white kratom, drying the leaves in the sun should take more than a day. After that, they are dried in a closed space. White kratom has a stronger stimulating effect. It is therefore used for its ability to improve mood, increase energy, and enhance alertness. It strengthens concentration and performance.

The above-mentioned types can be considered basic. Yellow or gold kratom is not a separate type, but is created by mixing red kratom with white or green in various proportions. This usually takes about 10 days.

How to recognize quality kratom

The choice of kratom depends primarily on individual preferences and previous experience. However, specific products may also differ in quality.

Country of origin

A reliable manufacturer should first and foremost state where the kratom they supply comes from. The Mitragyna speciosa plant is native to Southeast Asia. High-quality kratom therefore comes from countries such as Thailand, Indonesia, and Malaysia. These areas are characterized by the best climate and soil conditions, which have a favorable effect on plant growth.

Kratom is usually labeled according to its color, but also according to the place where it was grown. For example, you can commonly find red Borneo kratom, which gets its name from the island of Borneo, the largest island in the Greater Sunda Islands.

Processing procedure

Harvesting usually takes place when the trees are 2 to 3 years old. Older trees provide higher quality leaves. However, the location where the tree grew also plays a role in this aspect, as plants in the outer parts of the plantation tend to have better access to nutrients. Nevertheless, the final quality of kratom is also significantly influenced by the processing of the raw material.

The starting form for kratom processing is always dried. The dried leaves are then ground into powder, which is used as tea or sold in the form of capsules or extracts. Drying and subsequent grinding should be carried out in such a way as to prevent the loss of active substances and contamination with foreign substances. Heavy metals and pesticides are particularly problematic in this regard.

Active ingredient content

The main active ingredients in kratom are indole alkaloids, particularly mitragynine and 7-hydroxymitragynine. A trustworthy supplier is able to accurately declare what goods they are selling. Therefore, not only the purity but also the content of alkaloids, which are the main active ingredients, is verified by laboratory tests.

The total alkaloid content in one kratom leaf ranges from 0.5 to 1.5% by weight of dry matter. Of this amount, 60% is mitragynine and 2% is 7-hydroxymitragynine. Kratom varieties labeled as „Super“ are particularly high in active ingredients. These come from the leaves of mature trees, which are found at the tops of the plant.

Product storage

It is also advisable to choose fresh kratom. It has stronger effects and is less susceptible to mold or other contaminants. The packaging date should always be indicated on the kratom packaging. It should be stored in a dry and cool place.

If you are unsure, sensory evaluation can tell you a lot. It is therefore best not to buy kratom from unknown sources on the internet, but to have the opportunity to inspect it in person. Check that the product has the color and smell corresponding to its type. Any visual signs of mold are, of course, a sure sign that the seller has underestimated storage.

These entities should not only be as transparent as possible about the information they provide about their products, but also have satisfied customers. If you cannot rely on personal recommendations, which is always optimal, at least check the reviews available on the internet.
